ハウスシロザカ
戸建て住宅｜東京都目黒区｜2022年
テーマ：洋館
ハウスシロザカの設計において、最初に思い描いたのはクラシックな洋館の佇まいであった。これは、施主がイギリス人のご家族であったこと、そして私自身がアメリカで建築を学び、実務経験を積んできたことに由来してる。
敷地条件として、北側斜線制限や予算の制約がある中で、建物の北側に庭を配置し、東西に長い矩形のボリュームを採用した。ファサードには連続する出窓を設けることで、シンプルな建物形状にリズムを生み出し、西洋建築の趣を強調した。
また、障子を通した柔らかな自然光や、庭に配した飛び石といった和の要素を取り入れることで、日本の美意識と調和する和洋折衷のデザインを目指した。

House Shirozaka
Single Family House｜Meguro Ward, TOKYO｜2022
Theme：Youkan
When designing House Shirozaka, my initial vision was that of a classic Western-style residence called Youkan in this country. This concept was influenced by the fact that the clients were a British family and by my own background in studying and practicing architecture in the United States.
Given site constraints such as the northern setback regulations and budget limitations, I positioned the garden on the north side and designed a long, rectangular volume extending east to west. The façade features a series of bay windows, adding rhythm and depth to the otherwise simple form, while enhancing its Western character.
At the same time, traditional Japanese elements, such as shoji screens that diffuse natural light and stepping stones in the garden, were incorporated to create a harmonious blend of Western and Japanese aesthetics.
