テーマ：幾何学と線

東京都世田谷区の住宅地では、家々が密集して建てられ、隣の家との間は人一人が通れる程度の狭さで、ほとんどの住宅の1階には自然光が届かない。このような環境の中で、施主が家のどこにいても外部とつながりを感じられるように、自然光の取り入れ方に工夫を凝らした。プライバシーを守りつつ、幾何学的な手法で外壁を切り取ったり、くり抜いたりすることで、光の通り道を作り、内部と外部をつなぐ接点を生み出した。
その結果、周囲をガラス張りにした3層吹き抜けのバックヤードが形成され、前面道路からは見えないように後方にセットバックされた3階のガラス張りの部屋が造られた。線が幾何学を生み、幾何学が建物を切り取ることで、固いコンクリートの外観からは想像できない、光に満ちた空間が内部に広がる。

Setagaya Ward, TOKYO｜2020

Theme：Geometries and Lines

In the residential area of Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, the houses are densely packed, with spaces so narrow between them that a person can barely pass through. Almost no natural light reaches the first floor of any of these homes. In this context, the challenge was to design a way for the clients to feel connected to the outside world, no matter where they are within the house, by bringing in natural light.
While considering privacy, we geometrically cut and hollowed out the exterior walls to create pathways for light, establishing points of contact between the interior and the outside. This approach resulted in a three-story atrium surrounded by glass walls and rooms with large glazed openings that were set back to remain hidden from view from the street level.
Lines created the geometry, and the geometry shaped the house, filling the interior with natural light. Upon entering the house, one is greeted with a space filled with light—an effect that is hard to imagine from the solid, concrete exterior facade.
